David B Dean is an Artist, Musician, Poet, Cook and Gardener living on the suburban banks of the Chattahoochee River in north Georgia. Proud father of twin sons and three step daughters, he was born between the Peachtrees in Atlanta and grew up in the Buckhead neighborhood before it became an attitude. Married to Potter, Artist and Science Teacher, Karen, they enjoy hiking, kayaking, and biking in the local parks and Nature Preserves. They are kept busy by their very active and somewhat squeaky Cairn Terrier, Nigel.
A Book of Faces resembles a sketchbook. The drawings have been selected from 365 self-portraits made over the course of one year, from Ground Hog Day 2019 to February 1st 2020. The drawings were picked for their perceived correspondence to the list of emotional states found on an emotional coaching and counseling tool called The Feeling Wheel (developed by Dr. Gloria Willcox), for use in the development of emotional literacy. Each drawing is labeled with the corresponding emotion.
You may enjoy and appreciate it simply as art for your viewing pleasure. It may also be useful as a teaching tool in working with children and adult individuals challenged by the cognitive symptoms of Autism, Asperger’s Spectrum and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
